Ridge-gourd Fritters (Padavalanga Bhajji)

Ridge Gourd is one of the common vegetable used in Indian cooking. Its rich in dietary fibre, Vitamin C. Its juice is used as a natural remedy for jaundice. Bhajji is a deep fried snack with spices.

Ingredients:
Ridge gourd / Padavalakkai - half cm thick round slices - 20 nos.
Chickpea dal powder / Besan - 3/4 cup,
Rice powder - 2 tbsp,
Salt - 1 tsp,
Chilly powder - 1 tsp,
Garam masala - 1/2 tsp(optional),
Asafoetida - 1/2 tsp,
Turmeric - 1 pinch,
Water,
Oil for deep frying.

Method:
1. Add all the dry ingredients into a bowl and mix.
2. Pour approx. 3/4 cup water and make a thick batter, add additional water as required.
3. Immerse each slice of ridge gourd pieces in the batter and deep fry in Oil.
4. Serve hot as evening snack with Tea or Coffee.
