Potato Green peas curry (Aloo mattar Masala)

This is a typical North Indian style curry which was shown in one of my favourite Kannada Cooking show Bombat Bhojana. I have made some changes and improvements to it.

Ingredients:
Green peas fresh or freezed - 3/4 cup,
Potato cut into cubes - 1 cup,
Tomato chopped - 1no.

Masala:
Oil - 2 tbsp,
Cumin / jeera - 1 tsp,
Onion finely chopped - 1/2 cup,
Ginger finely chopped - 1 tbsp,
Garlic finely chopped - 1 tbsp,
Green chilly  - 1 no chopped.
Dry Red chilly - 2 to 4 nos. cut into pieces,
Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp,
Salt - 1/2 tsp,
Coconut grated - 1/2 cup.

Seasoning:
Oil - 1 tbsp,
Cumin / jeera - 1 tsp,
Coriander leaves - 2 tbsp chopped.

Method: 

1. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan, add jeera let it splutter, add onion, green chilly, ginger and garlic saute for 2 to 3 minutes.
2. Add coconut, saute for about 5 minutes or till it starts to change color to orange.
3. Now add the remaining ingredients in the masala list and saute for a minute.
4. Grind all the sautaed ingredients to a fine paste and keep aside.
5. Now heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan, splutter jeera and pour the ground paste, sprinkle some salt as required and cook for a minute.
6. Add the first three vegetables and cook till done. Add water as per your gravy requirement to the curry while cooking.
7. Garnish with coriander leaves. Serve with Chapathi or Rice.
