South Indian Kitchen Utensils / Accessories



From top left corner - clockwise:

1. Sevai nazhi or Idiyappam maker: Rice flour is kneaded and placed inside, turn the handle seen above to get the flour in noodle form below. Used to make Idiyappam and similar recipes.
2. Idli Thattu or Steamer: Used to steam idlis and make similar similar steamed recipes.
3. Unni-appam chatti: Used to make fried dumplings known as unni-appams mainly using rice.
4. Appam chatti: Used to make lacy rice pancakes called appam.
5. Small Idly Thattu or Steamer: Used to steam idlis of smaller size called as kancheepuram idlis.
