Vegetables(Most commonly used) of South India

Clock wise from top left :
Raw banana, Ash gourd, Banana flower, Drumsticks, Shallots or pearl onions,
Banana stem, Elephant foot yam, Coconut.

1. Musa accuminata:
Banana-raw(English); Kaya or Pachakaaya(Malayalam); Baalle kayi(Kannada); Vazhakkai(Tamil).

2.Benincasa Hispida :
Ash gourd or Wax gourd(English); Budakumbalakayi(Kannada); Pusanikayi(Tamil); Kumbalanga(Malayalam)

3.Banana flower (English): Banana blossom(English); Vazhai poo(Tamil); Vazha koomb(Malayalam);
 Baalle hoovu(Kannada).

4. Moringa Oleifera:
Drumstick(English); Muringakkaya(Malayalam); Nuggekaayi(Kannada); Murungai(Tamil).

5.Allium cepa. var aggregatum:
Shallots or Pearl onion(English); Chuvannulli(Malayalam); Chinna vengayam(Tamil);
 Chikka eerulli(Kannada).

6.Banana stem(English): Baalle dindu(Kannada); Unnipindi(Malayalam); Vazhai thandu(Tamil).

7. Amorphophallu campanulatus:
Elephant foot yam or Stink lilly(English); Suvarna gedde(Kannada); Chenna(Malayalam);
Sennai kizhangu(Tamil).

8. Cocos nucifera:
Naalikeram or Thenga(Malayalam); Thengai(Tamil); Thenginakaayi(Kannada)
